At the concert of the 2nd year of the international music festival ”Silberbauer’s Musical Thaya Region”, the excellent young bass Josef Kovačič will perform, accompanied on the organ by Kateřina Málková. The programme pays homage to the French romantic composer Camille Saint-Saëns and celebrates the 100th anniversary of his death. The concert is also part of the partner festival "Orgelfestwoche".

Künstler

  • A graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under the expert guidance of Martin Bárta and the Prague Conservatory from the class of Jiří Kubík. He made his professional opera debut in 2015 in the role of Hermann (The Tales of Hoffmann) at the prestigious music festival in Bregenz, Austria. In the same season, he was also invited to collaborate with the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, where he has since performed many roles as a guest artist, including the Hermit (C. M. von Weber, Der Freischütz), the Ghost of Hamlet’s Father (A. Thomas, Hamlet), Kajetán (Z. Fibich, The Bride of Messina), Charon and Pluto (C. Monteverdi, Orfeo), Seneca (The Coronation of Poppaea), and Kecal (B. Smetana, The Bartered Bride). Since 2016, he has also been a regular guest at the Silesian Theatre in Opava, for example in the roles of the Vagabond (C. Orff, Die Kluge) and Pistola (G. Verdi, Falstaff). In 2018, he appeared at the North Bohemian Theatre in the role of Sarastro (W. A. Mozart, The Magic Flute), and a year later at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice in the role of Beneš (B. Smetana, Dalibor). Since 2020, he has been a permanent soloist of the opera of the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, where he is currently appearing in productions of The Cunning Little Vixen (L. Janáček, the Parson and the Badger), Don Giovanni (W. A. Mozart, Masetto), and The Pearl Fishers (G. Bizet, Nourabad). In addition to the theatre, he is also active in concert work and collaborates with renowned musical ensembles such as Collegium 1704, the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, Musica Florea, the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, and the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic.

  • Kateřina Málková was born in Znojmo. She received her first musical education at the primary art school in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou. In 1998, she entered the Brno Conservatory in the class of Prof. Petr Kolař, where she completed her studies in 2004 with a final concert at the Besední dům. In the same year, she was admitted to the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the class of Doc. Jaroslav Tůma. She successfully completed her bachelor’s degree with him and in the following year, 2008, she went on a one-year foreign internship to Germany at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck, where she studied with Prof. Arvid Gast. There she performed in several concerts, for example in St. Jakobikirche, in the Cathedral, etc. In 2010, she completed her studies with a master’s concert at the Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU) as part of the concert series "The Best" with the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, performing F. Poulenc’s organ concerto. During her studies, she participated in a number of master classes with prominent organists such as Marie Claire Alain, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Andreas Schröder, Jon Laukvik, Martin Sander, Martin Schmeding, Slawomir Kaminski, Matthias Maierhoffer, Pier Damiano Peretti, and Gustav Leonhardt.

    She is currently dedicated to solo performance, having appeared at festivals such as the Eduard Nápravník International Music Festival, the Brno Organ Festival, Podblanický podzim, the Štětí Organ Autumn, Suk’s Musical Štiřín, and the Kláštery Český Krumlov, among others. In Slovakia, she played on the occasion of the European Organ Festival in Kremnica. Kateřina Málková has given concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Latvia, and Lithuania. She collaborates with various Czech orchestras, including the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the North Czech Philharmonic, the Atlantis Orchestra, the Collegium Magistrorum Mikulov, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic. She is very actively involved in the musical education of children, teaching piano and organ. With the violinist Alexey Aslamas, she has developed musical lectures for primary and music schools, focusing on classical and modern contemporary music. She is always eager to promote organ music, which is why she organised a series of concerts in the castle chapel in Lednice, Moravia, in the summers of 2016 and 2017, and since 2016 has regularly organised Advent and Epiphany concerts with a choir and orchestra in South Moravia. In 2020, she performed as a soloist with the Sedunum String Orchestra in concerts in Switzerland. She is the founder of the newly established international music festival ”Silberbauer’s Musical Thaya Region” in South Moravia and Lower Austria.
