The concert orchestra Collegium magistrorum was founded in 2002 at the Primary Art School in Mikulov by teachers of the Primary Art School and Mikulov musicians as a direct successor to a similar ensemble led in the 1960s and 1970s by the director of the then folk art school, PhDr. Josef Košulič. Its activities continued the rich tradition of Mikulov’s musical life, dating back to the Baroque period, when musical ensembles at the Piarist grammar school and the Distinguished Collegiate Chapter of St. Wenceslas were active in Mikulov during the reign of Cardinal František Ditrichstein.
During its existence, it was continuously supplemented by advanced students of the Primary Art School, until it was subsequently transformed into the student Chamber Orchestra of the Primary Art School, which still systematically works at the school. Currently, it is composed of teachers and professional musicians from the region. The orchestra Collegium magistrorum now acts as an occasional ensemble at various cultural and social events
