- The GAUDEAMUS BRNO Choir has been active on the Czech choral scene since 1996, when it was founded by the leading Ukrainian choirmaster and conductor Alexander Vacek. Over the years, the originally university choir has developed into an independent body, whose members are currently both students and university graduates. Since 2008, Gaudeamus has been working under the direction of choirmasters Daša Karasová and Martina Kirová. The choir organizes annual concerts and participates in choir festivals both at home and abroad. His extensive concert repertoire includes a capella compositions as well as vocal-instrumental works by Czech and international composers from the Renaissance to contemporary works. During its existence, Gaudeamus has successfully presented itself at many domestic and foreign festivals and competitions. In 2017, he became the winner of the Grand Prix at the XII. The International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Bratislava. The most significant achievements of recent years include participation in the performance of Alfred Schnittke's 4th Symphony with the Brno Philharmonic and conductor Robert Kružík or Beethoven's 9th Symphony with "Ode to Joy" accompanied by the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava under the baton of conductor Valentin Uryupin as part of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival. With a full-length program, Gaudemus also presented himself at the prestigious international opera and music festival Janáček Brno 2024, where, in addition to the acapella spiritual works of Leoš Janáček, he performed Bohuslav Martinů's Field Mass and Pavel Haas' Psalm 29 in collaboration with the Opera diversa orchestra and conductor Tomáš Krejčí. www.gaudeamus-brno.cz
- Ivana Pavlů studied singing at the Brno Conservatory and the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, where she has been working as an assistant professor at the Department of Singing at the Faculty of Music since 2022. She is a laureate of many international singing competitions, including the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary, the Ferruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition in Deutschlandsberg, Austria, the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Competition, etc. During her studies, she performed many beautiful operatic roles in the JAMU Chamber Opera: Mirandolina (B. Martinů – Mirandolina), Countess Almaviva (W. A. Mozart – The Marriage of Figaro), The First Lady (W. A. Mozart – The Magic Flute), etc. She participated in master classes with Amelia Fella, Kateřina Beranová, Helena Kaupová, Mikhail Lanskoi, Thomas Steinhöffel, Deividas Staponkus and Irena Sylya. In December 2017, she performed as the First Lady in Mozart's Magic Flute at the Estates Theater in Prague. Since 2019, she has been a guest opera soloist of the Moravian-Silesian National Theater in Ostrava. In the autumn of 2023, she played the role of Marenka in the children's version of The Bargained Bride. In the spring of 2024, she made her debut on the stage of the Janáček Opera House in the opera Rusalka directed by David Radok. - Born in Brno. He received his first musical education by studying the piano. He began to devote himself to solo singing at the P. Křížkovský High School of Arts, under the guidance of Irena Vašíčková – Pollini. He continues his studies at the Brno Conservatory. He completed his university studies at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. As part of a one-year internship at the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, he studies under the guidance of Magdalena Hajóssyová. She completed her education privately with the emeritus soloist of the National Academy of Music Brno, Hana Málková. She was a member of the Czech Philharmonic Choir in Brno, collaborated with the Czech Ensemble Baroque, the Moravian Chamber Orchestra, the Tišnov Chamber Orchestra and the Brno Radio Orchestra of Folk Instruments. She is active in concerts and teaching. At the Conservatory in Brno, he teaches singing in the music-drama department and also teaches the Italian language.
- Jan Maria Hájek comes from Týnec nad Labem, studied at the gymnasium in Kutná Hora. He began to devote himself to opera singing while studying economics at the University of Economics in Prague, from where he went to the singing department of the Prague Conservatory after completing his bachelor's degree. During his studies, he played a number of leading roles in school and student projects, for example Jeník in Smetana's Bartered Bride, Gonzalva in Ravel's Spanish Hour or Edwin in E. Kálmán's Čardášová Princess. He performed in concerts as a soloist, among others, on the stage of the Rudolfinum in Prague or in the Cathedral of St. Welcome. In cooperation with the Society of Friends of Lusatia, he studied the title role in a concert performance of the abridgement of the Lusatian Serbian opera Vodník by Korla Kocora. He dubbed famous opera arias for the children's series Peg a Kočičák on Czech television. He is a laureate of the highest category of the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. He currently works primarily as a soloist on the stages of the National Theater in Prague and the J.K. Tyl Theater in Pilsen. He was a scholarship holder of the Wagner music festivals in Bayreuth. - Bass player Josef Kovačič belongs to the established artists of the younger singing generation. He already attracted the attention of the international audience during his professional debut at the prestigious festival in Bregenz, Austria (2015) in Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann and subsequently also at the acclaimed opera festival in Wexford, Ireland (2022), where he successfully portrayed the role of Ubaldo in Dvořák's Armida. He regularly collaborates with leading opera houses on domestic stages. His profile repertoire includes prominent bass roles such as Kecal (The Bartered Bride), Bonifác (The Secret), Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Sarastro (The Magic Flute), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Seneca (The Coronation of Poppa) and recently Bajazett (Tamerlan) and Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro). He is a permanent guest artist at the Moravian-Silesian National Theater in Ostrava, the J.K. Tyl Theater in Pilsen and the South Bohemian Theater in České Budějovice. For two seasons he was also a permanent member of the soloist ensemble of the F. X. Šalda Theater in Liberec. In addition to the opera, he is a sought-after performer of the oratorio and concert repertoire. He regularly performs with renowned musical ensembles, including Collegium 1704, Musica Florea, the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc and the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic. He is also dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary works, for example in the world premiere of the oratorio Mysterium Paschale František Fiala played the character of Jesus at the Easter Festival of Sacred Music in Brno. - Josef Klíč was born on August 10, 1976 in Moravská Třebová.
