Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary
Rancířov (Dešná-Slavonice) (Czechia)
We invite you to a deeply meditative and virtuosic musical experience, which will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Rancířov. The concert with the subtitle "Rosary Sonatas" will present excellent Czech performers - violinist Lucia Sedláková Hůlova and renowned organist and harpsichordist Jaroslav Tůma.
The artists masterfully linked the dramaturgy of the evening with the venue itself. The program will open Biber's 14th sonata "The Assumption of the Virgin Mary", which symbolically resonates with the patronage of the Rancířov church. In addition to baroque gems such as Pachelbel's Ciaccona or Bach's brilliant Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue, a unique contemporary work will also be heard. Jaroslav Tůma will present his own five-movement composition Rosary of Light, which will bring a modern and highly expressive spiritual dimension to the centuries-tested repertoire.
Come and listen to music that has passed through the centuries and experience an early evening full of musical beauty and contemplation in the unique environment of the Rancier temple. We look forward to seeing you!

Ort
The picturesque village of Rancířov, which falls under the municipality of Dešná, lies in the immediate vicinity of the Austrian border on the border of southwestern Moravia. Its parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary forms a natural spiritual and architectural landmark of the entire area and is a valuable witness to the rich history of this specific border region. The roots of the temple go deep into the Middle Ages, which is still evidenced by some preserved Gothic architectural elements, but its current face was also shaped by later construction modifications. The interior of the church offers a very intimate and acoustically friendly environment, which is absolutely ideal for presenting chamber and spiritual music. The fact that the temple is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary lends the organization of spiritual concerts in these spaces an extraordinary atmosphere. Visitors will find here not only an unusual musical experience, but also a peaceful place to stop in the silence of the wonderful nature of the border between Znojmo and Dačice. The church in Rancířov is a perfect example of how historical architecture and live music can create an unforgettable experience together.
